ConCentric Games is presenting a day of tabletop gaming as part of the Burnside Council's July 2017 school holidays activities. Come and check out the new Glenunga Hub complex, and stay for a few games!

Our July tabletop day was well received, so we're running another one in July 2017. It's free, so come and join us in the air conditioned Glenunga Hub! We will also be giving away some tickets to the full #ConCentric2017 weekend to some lucky attendees.

Tabletop games are undergoing a renaissance at the moment with thousands of new titles coming out every year. The crowdfunding platform Kickstarter has raised US$495 million in the last 7 years in its Gaming category, and 75% of that is tabletop games. There are tabletop gaming conventions around the world that attract hundreds of attendees. So why all the interest? A big part of the draw is the social connection that many video games – as fun as they are – can't provide. People are looking for an intellectual challenge, some escapism through the story told in a thematic game, or face to face interaction and spending time with their friends and family.

Come along to the Glenunga Hub on 9 July 10am to 4pm to try out some modern board games. We will have several titles on hand for you to play, and you're welcome to bring your favourites from home to share. Not sure where to start? We'll introduce you to some of the so-called "gateway games" with learning sessions of titles like Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne and Settlers of Catan.
